Service & StewardshipActive participation in community service and philanthropy is integral to the success of almost every fraternity and sorority. Lambda Chi Alpha is no exception. Here at UTC, the Zeta-Phi chapter is proud to support two major organizations for our philanthropy—Feeding America and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Read more about these partnerships below!
The extent of our community engagement is not limited just to those two organizations though. Our brothers are involved in a number of organizations and institutions all over Chattanooga and in their hometowns. Some of these organizations include the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Orchard Knob Elementary School, Iron Man Triathlon, Normal Park Elementary School, Ronald McDonald House Charities, March of Dimes, Blood Assurance, Catholic Charities, Children's Hospital at Erlanger, Riverbend Festival, Causeway, Regeneration Outreach Ministry for Women, Feed My Starving Children, God's Love We Deliver, and many more! |
Lambda Chi Alpha + Feeding AmericaIn 2013, the Lambda Chi Alpha International Fraternity initiated a partnership with Feeding America, a non-profit organization and network of food banks committed to hunger relief. During the 2015-2016 academic school year, brothers across the country reported raising 4.4 million pounds of food. This year, the fraternity has set a goal to raise a combined total of 5 million pounds during the 2016-2017 academic school year. Locally, the Zeta-Phi chapter supports the Chattanooga Area Food Bank by volunteering time, raising money, and creating awareness for hunger in our community! The Chattanooga Area Food Bank is a member of the Feeding America network of food banks.
About the Chattanooga Area Food BankThe Chattanooga Area Food Bank acquires and distributes healthy food across a 20-county service region including Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia with help from its network of over 300 partner agencies. Last year alone, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank distributed over 13.3 million pounds and served over 25,000 people each week. In addition to food provision, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank works to engage the public in the fight to end hunger and empower people to take responsibility for their health and their lives. About the Cystic Fibrosis FoundationIn 2008, the Zeta-Phi chapter initiated a partnership with the Nashville Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to help support CF patients like Brother Eddie Dunn.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation funds research and drug development and seeks to educate the community about the condition. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic condition that causes a thick, buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. Today, there are approximately 30,000 CF patients living in America and 70,000 worldwide. While there are treatments available for CF patients, there is no known cure. |
What We DoLambda Chi Alpha hosts BBQ for a Cure to help raise money and awareness for this condition. BBQ for a Cure is the Zeta-Phi chapter's second largest annual philanthropy event. In addition to BBQ for a Cure, our brothers actively support the CF Foundation by volunteering at the annual Three Blind Wines and Great Strides events. Over the years, our brothers have proudly raised tens of thousands of dollars to help promote and support CF research. Click the link below to donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation now!
